The first political action committee focused on American Muslim women has endorsed Hillary Clinton for president.
The American Muslim Women Political Action Committee (AMW PAC) formed “after hearing Donald Trump demonize Muslims, and imply things about our women and culture,” said Mirriam Seddiq, creator of the PAC.
Huma Abedin, the top aide to Hillary Clinton, is a former editor at the Journal of Muslim Minority Affairs.

“Our primary goal is to elect leaders and support policies that represent our values,” Seddiq said.
“In the simplest terms, we believe in basic human rights and the right of each individual to live their lives as they choose. Hillary Clinton is a candidate that not only understands those values, but has spent her life dedicated to them in her public service.
“For years we’ve been letting other people tell us what our problems are,” Seddiq said. “This PAC provides a platform for us to talk about our problems, our needs and who we want to help us address them.”
“It is time for American Muslim women to have our own platform to engage on the issues we care about,” said Masuda Sultan, an AMW PAC advisory board member. “As Americans, it is our duty to organize ourselves and work on solutions for our country with those who know it can be done.”
