Why would Democrats single out House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes for electoral defeat?
Nunes, the California Republican who revealed the Democratic National Committee and Hillary Clinton campaign paid for the bogus Trump dossier, says he is in the cross hairs as the DNC has turned to old reliables, Hollywood and George Soros, in a concerted bid to unseat him.
Nunes will be targeted in what Democrats see as a “wave” election in 2018, Rowan Scarborough reported for The Washington Times on March 31.
Nunes represents California’s 22nd District, which is farm country sitting north of Bakersfield in the San Joaquin Valley.
The congressman’s associates say his newfound status as a target of the Democrats has sparked a flood of campaign donations. His war chest now exceeds $4 million.
In his report, Scarborough noted that late night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel, one of Hollywood’s loudest anti-Trump voices, went after Nunes in February.
“To call Devin Nunes Donald Trump’s lap dog would be an insult to dogs. And laps,” he told viewers.
Media Matters, a Soros-financed critic of conservative news sites, is a frequent basher of Nunes. It called his FBI FISA memo a “muddled nothing burger.”
“Now, their attacks against me are growing stronger – extreme liberals in Hollywood, Washington D.C. and across the country have set their sights on me and my seat in Congress,” Nunes said in a recent fundraising letter.
“They will say and do anything to support their far-left candidate against me …. Nancy Pelosi, George Soros and their assembly of deep-pocketed, far-left insiders are willing to spend whatever they have in order to defeat me.”
