Crist, a former governor and Senate candidate, is challenging Rep. David Jolly, Florida Republican, for the state’s 13th Congressional District seat. During a debate between the two on Sept. 19, Crist elicited laughter when he praised Clinton and specifically called her “honest.”

“I am proud of Hillary Clinton,” Crist said during the debate, in a clip circulated by the conservative America Rising PAC. “I think she’s been a very good secretary of state, a very good senator from the state of New York. The thing I like most about her is I believe she is steady, I believe that she is strong, I believe that she is honest, and I look forward to voting for her.”

Crist’s description of the Democratic Party’s presidential candidate brought the audience to laughter.

A Fox News poll released on Sept. 18 found that just 34 percent of likely voters think Clinton is “honest and trustworthy” with 64 percent disagreeing. By comparison 39 percent say GOP candidate Donald Trump is “honest and trustworthy” while 58 percent disagree.

According to Politico, internal polling has Jolly and Crist in a dead-heat in the congressional race.
