The FBI has fired anti-Trump FBI agent Peter Strzok, reports said on Aug. 13.

President Donald Trump fired off a pair of tweets after hearing of Strzok’s ouster:

“Agent Peter Strzok was just fired from the FBI – finally. The list of bad players in the FBI & DOJ gets longer & longer. Based on the fact that Strzok was in charge of the Witch Hunt, will it be dropped? It is a total Hoax. No Collusion, No Obstruction – I just fight back!”

In a second tweet, the president said: “Just fired Agent Strzok, formerly of the FBI, was in charge of the Crooked Hillary Clinton sham investigation. It was a total fraud on the American public and should be properly redone!”

Meanwhile, a former high-ranking official at the Department of Justice who passed information from Trump dossier author Christopher Steele to the FBI will testify before a joint session of House committees later this month.

“DOJ official Bruce Ohr will come before Congress on Aug. 28 to answer why he had 60+contacts with dossier author Chris Steele as far back as January 2016. He owes the American public the full truth,” tweeted Rep. Mark Meadows, North Carolina Republican and member of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.

Strzok’s attorney, Aitan Goelman, said that his client’s firing was a departure from standard practice and politically motivated. Goelman said bureau Deputy Director David Bowdich “overruled” the FBI’s Office of Professional Responsibility to remove Strzok.

“This decision should be deeply troubling to all Americans,” Goelman said.

In a statement, Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said: “The firing of Peter Strzok is another body blow to the credibility of the Mueller special counsel operation. Strzok, who hated President Trump, compromised both the Clinton and Trump investigations that saw Hillary Clinton protected and Donald Trump illicitly targeted. Strzok’s anti-Trump texts show the Russia investigation he helped invent with Clinton campaign operatives is irredeemably compromised. As Mueller’s operation is founded on Strzok’s corrupt activities, it must be shut down.”

The House Oversight and Judiciary committees plan to hold a joint hearing to interview Ohr on Aug. 28, according to The Daily Caller.

FBI documents show that Ohr continued to pass information from Steele to the FBI even after the FBI in November 2016 had allegedly cut ties to Steele. Ohr at the time was the Associate Deputy Attorney General.

On Aug. 12, Trump tweeted that “If this had happened to the other side, everybody involved would be in jail. This is a Media coverup of the biggest story of our time.”

None of Steele’s allegations in the dossier has been confirmed publicly.

Senate Judiciary Committee investigators obtained several FBI 302 interview reports which shed light on the Steele-Ohr relationship. In one, Ohr disclosed that Steele was “desperate” to sink the Trump candidacy.

A Judiciary Committee letter to the Justice Department inspector general said there are “Numerous FD-302s demonstrating that Department of Justice official Bruce Ohr continued to pass along allegations from Mr. Steele to the FBI after the FBI suspended its formal relationship with Mr. Steele for unauthorized contact with the media, and demonstrating that Mr. Ohr otherwise funneled allegations from Fusion GPS and Mr. Steele to the FBI.”
