"On April 9, concurrent with the National Day of Nuclear Technology, a
number of our country's achievements would be unveiled in the presence of
the president," Akhbar Salehi, director of the atomic energy agency, said.
In a statement on April 6, Salehi, who is also Iran's vice president,
did not provide an indication of the nuclear achievements, Middle East Newsline reported. But he stressed
that Iran was moving to counter international sanctions that aimed to block
Iran's nuclear program.
"Self-reliance in this [nuclear] industry requires duplicative
activities and requirements and high self-confidence if we intend to be in a
good position," Salehi said.
Over the last two years, Teheran, which has offered assistance to Gulf
Cooperation Council states, issued a series of statements regarding progress
in Iran's nuclear program. The International Atomic Energy Agency, which has
been granted limited access to Iran's nuclear facilities, has confirmed many
of the claims, including the expansion of the nation's gas centrifuge fleet.
