Iran threatens of 'winter in cold' for EU nations supporting sanctions
NICOSIA — Iran has threatened to retaliate for any Western-led
sanctions.
A senior Iranian official warned that Teheran would sever energy
supplies to European Union states that participate in sanctions on Iran. The
official said Iran's missile arsenal already poses a clear threat to most of
Europe.
"Iran is standing on 50 percent of the world's energy and should it so
decide Europe will have to spend the winter in cold," Islamic Revolutionary
Guard Corp deputy chief of staff Gen. Hossein Salami said.

Addressing Iranian war veterans on Feb. 28, Salami's statement marked
the first warning by Teheran that Europe would be a prime target of the
mullah regime.
He said Teheran could retaliate for any Western sanctions, including
a gasoline embargo on Iran.
Salami also said Teheran could strike any target in Europe with Iranian
ballistic missiles. Iran was said to have developed or acquired missiles
with a range of up to 3,000 kilometers.
"Our missiles are now able to target any spot in which the conspirators
are in, and the country is making advances in all fields," Salami said.
