Hamas and the UAE have accused Israel's Mossad of the assassination of
Al Mabhouh. The names used by the 11 suspected killers matched those of
British and Irish emigrants to Israel who have been living in the Jewish
state for the last decade.
The UAE has requested Interpol's help to search for the suspects, filmed
in the Dubai hotel in which Al Mabhouh was killed. Interpol issued so-called
Red Notices and said it was working closely with UAE and Western
governments.
"The decision by Dubai and Interpol to share all existing available
information with the international law enforcement community can only help
shed light on those who perpetrated and masterminded the attack," Noble
said. "In the process it will also help to establish the innocence of the
ordinary citizens and even of countries whose identities were stolen and
fraudulently used."
The UAE has urged Interpol to also arrest Mossad director Meir Dagan.
Dubai police chief Maj. Gen. Dahi Khalfan Tamim said he was 99 percent
certain that the Mossad was responsible for Al Mabhouh's death.
"Our investigations reveal that Mossad is involved in the murder of Al
Mabhouh," Tamim said
Interpol has urged member-states to be on alert for visitors who
resemble the suspects. The suspects were said to have used British, French,
German and Irish passports. On Feb. 19, the British newspaper, Daily Mail,
said the Mossad had informed Britain's MI6 of an operation against Hamas.
"Authorities in Britain, France, Germany and Ireland, for their part,
say they believe the passports from their countries used by the alleged
killers were fraudulently altered," Interpol said.
