Payback: WorldTribune targeted by cyber attack of foreign origins

From the Editors:

WorldTribune.com and its affiliated publications have been reporting intensively on the growing cyber threat from abroad to Internet sites and networks of the U.S. government and private U.S. firms.

An article in the upcoming edition of East-Asia-Intel.com, for example profiles key players in China's growing, government-subsidized hacker community behind the recent attack on Google.

Now WorldTribune.com has come under attack from unknown hackers. On the one hand, due to cyber attacks, our consistent service to readers has experienced some disruption. The affiliated password-protected sites Geostrategy-Direct.com and East-Asia-Intel.com have not been affected.

On the other hand, the attacks have been traced to enemies of freedom. Truth begets reaction. At times like these, some of those in the news business recognize that they are on target.

Also In This Edition

Truth is not on the side of the enemies of freedom, but these attacks have required many long hours and taken us away from our primary preoccupation of covering news of strategic significance.

Beginning on Sunday, April 4, some readers were unable to access articles at WorldTribune.com and received warnings. The messages puzzled site administrators and technical resources because WorldTribune.com does not use scripts and does not deploy code designed to capture information about its readers.

On April 5, the problem was traced to the insertion of a line of code. The deletion of the code immediately resolved all problems. However the flurry of attacks have put WorldTribune on watch lists. This site is clear and poses no threat.

We apologize to our readers for any inconvenience and would like to thank those who alerted us to temporary problems they experienced.
