Chinese security forces using Segways in violation of U.S. export laws

In an apparent violation of U.S. exports laws, Chinese police are using Segway two-wheel transporters.

A July 3 Internet posting claimed that Jinan’s People’s Armed Police were using Segway in conducting an anti-terror exercise.

Congress in 1989 passed a law that bans the export to China of crime control or detection instruments or equipment.

The law was passed following the Tiananmen Square massacre by Chinese military forces of hundreds or perhaps thousands of unarmed protesters, which led to Beijing's anti-democracy propaganda and influence operations that continue today.
