Marxist Palestinian militia shells Israeli position
GAZA CITY — The Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine has reported a
resumption of mortar and rocket attacks on Israel from the Gaza Strip in a move said to have been coordinated with Hamas.
On
Aug. 5, the Marxist DFLP said its military wing shelled an Israel Army
position along the Gaza border, Middle East Newsline reported.
This marked the first time in 2010 that DFLP took responsibility for a
mortar or rocket attack against Israel.
Palestinian sources said the resumption
of DFLP attacks reflected coordination with the Hamas regime. They said DFLP had honored the informal Hamas ceasefire
with Israel throughout much of 2009 and early 2010.

"This was in retaliation for Israeli crimes against the Palestinians,"
DFLP's National Resistance Brigades said.
Over the last month, Palestinian militias in the Gaza Strip have

Hamas, Popular Resistance Committees and Islamic Jihad.
"We call on all Palestinians to intensify efforts [against Israel],"
DFLP said.
