In October 2010, Israel plans to host International Aerospace 2010,
touted as the largest air show and conference in the Jewish state, Middle East Newsline reported. The
conference and exhibition were expected to attract Western, Russian, Indian
and other defense and aerospace executives.
"We hope this will attract investment and establish Israel's position as
an important power in the world of technology," Ben David, the organizer,
said.
The exhibition has been promoted by the Israeli government, particularly
the Defense Ministry. Defense Minister Ehud Barak and Prime Minister
Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the event in 2009, which attracted more than
2,500 industry personnel.
Organizers said the conference, which has issued a request for papers,
would address technology, air defense and civil aviation. They said many
Israeli aerospace and defense companies plan to exhibit.
"Many in the technology industry, defense systems and public office view
the air show for innovative technologies in Israel as a crucial milestone in
the process of establishing Israel's position as an industry powerhouse,"
Dorit Abdubi Roffe, vice president of Israel's Technologies' magazine,
another organizer, said. "The broad support and encouragement that we are
receiving from important organizations points to a huge demand for a
conference of this type in Israel."
