Rich, corrupt and well-connected Chinese emigrants to U.S. are emerging factor in bilateral relations

Pundits offering forecasts about China-U.S. relations in the wake of President Hu Jintao's state visit will do well to remember this timeless dictum laid down by the late patriarch Deng Xiaoping: "Sino-U.S. ties won't ever be excessively cozy; but they won't go too bad either." An important factor in favor of stable bilateral relations is the increasingly large number of rich Chinese emigrants, including corrupt officials and businessmen, who are settling in the U.S.
