Kash Patel attacked by Pence advisor; NY Times columnist cites book’s list in call for pardons

Establishing a media profile in Washington, D.C. is not rocket science.

Olivia Troye, a former counterterrorism aide to Vice President Mike Pence, went on MSNBC earlier this week to allege without evidence that Kash Patel, President-elect Donald Trump’s pick to head up the FBI, would “lie about intelligence” and “lie about making things up on operations,” going as far to say he “put the lives of Navy SEALs at risk.”

Since leaving her White House role in the first Trump administration, Troye has become a rabid anti-Trumper. She spoke at this year’s Democratic National Convention in support of Kamala Harris’s coronation and even appeared in a Harris campaign ad.

Kash Patel

Patel has threatened legal action against Troye.

In a letter sent to Troye’s counsel, an attorney for Patel called Troye’s statements defamatory and demanded she retract them or face legal action.

“This is a complete fabrication, and you know it is false by virtue of your former position in the White House,” Jesse Binnall, Patel’s attorney, wrote in the letter.

“At no point did Mr. Patel ever lie about national intelligence, place Navy Seals at risk, or misinform the Vice President,” Binnall continued. “Not only did you have actual knowledge of the falsity of this smear, but you also did so with the malicious intent of degrading his character and of cynical self-promotion.”

During the first Trump administration, Patel served as a deputy assistant to Trump and as senior director for counterterrorism. He also was involved in efforts to bring some of the most-wanted terrorists to the U.S. for prosecution, and worked on Trump administration efforts to free dozens of U.S. hostages held abroad.

Writing for Fox News Digital on Friday, Brooke Singman noted: “Current and former U.S. national security officials and lawmakers say that when looking at his résumé ‘objectively,’ he is ‘one of the most experienced people ever to be nominated’ to lead the bureau.”

What worries the Left, never-Trumpers, and RINOs perhaps the most about Trump’s selection as FBI director is that Patel has crafted a list of figures he calls “government gangsters” who he says “must be held accountable and exposed in 2024.” The list includes current FBI Director Christopher Wray as well as Attorney General Merrick Garland.

With that in mind, MSNBC political analyst and New York Times columnist Michelle Goldberg on Wednesday called for Joe Biden to preemptively pardon everyone on Patel’s list.

“It’s not ideal to have an incoming potential head of the FBI, Kash Patel, who has published enemies lists, but one advantage of that is that he wrote a book, he has an enemies list in it, so we know exactly who he has threatened to go after without cause. Just pardon everyone on it,” said Goldberg.

Goldberg urged Biden to give a speech addressing the pardons, adding that he could say: “I wasn’t able to save the country from Donald Trump, but this is what they’ve threatened to do, I think we should take them seriously … because these people have not committed crimes, I’m giving them blanket pardons because the list of potential … investigations is kind of boundless.”

Goldberg said that “they have made it very clear exactly who they want to go after,” saying that “the absurdity of going after some of these figures like Cassidy Hutchinson should be pretty clear. Just pardon them all.”
