Xi uses notorious, ancient, super secret ‘Eastern Factory’ to crush foes

Chinese pundits have a nickname for the Communist Party’s Central Commission on Disciplinary Inspection (CCDI): the “Eastern Factory.”

The “Eastern Factory” is a notorious spy agency which emperors and eunuchs of the Ming Dynasty (1368–1644) used to bring down, torture and kill their enemies.

While General Secretary and President Xi Jinping has endeared himself to the masses by incriminating more corrupt cadres than those punished by ex-presidents Jiang Zemin and Hu Jintao combined, it is also clear that he is using anti-graft operations to weed out political foes.

The CCDI, the nation’s highest-level graft-buster, is a secretive party organ that is outside the purview of the Legislature. Its operations are usually not reported in the official media.
