Officials said the Teheran regime expected that the lifting of international sanctions would pave the way for Iranian gas exports.

The officials said Iran could export up to four billion cubic feet of gas per day by pipeline to Iraq and Gulf Cooperation Council states.

“The gas exports is a priority by the new government of President [Hassan] Rowhani,” an official said.

Officials said the lifting of sanctions could also accelerate development of the giant South Pars gas field.

The officials said Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh was revamping staff to renew development of the offshore fields, stalled by the departure of Western energy majors in 2011.
