The Kremlin had to tell the press corps today that  Russian President Vladimir Putin was in good health despite his week-long absence from the public eye .

VladVladPutin was last seen on March 5, when he met with Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi.  He rescheduled his trip to Kazakhstan this week.

“There’s no need to worry, he’s absolutely healthy,” Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov told Echo of Moscow radio station on Thursday.

Putin missed meetings with the pro-Moscow leader of South Ossetia and the FSB security agency.

Peskov dismissed the importance of the meetings and Putin’s participation and said they would be easily rescheduled.

Putin is preoccupied with the intensifying economic crisis and has “meetings constantly, but not all meetings are public,” Peskov insisted.

“As soon as the sun comes out… and it starts smelling of spring, people start getting delusions,” Peskov said according to the Tass news agency.
