Easing of sanctions allows Iran to double oil exports

NICOSIA — Iran has reported a doubling of crude oil exports.

Iranian Deputy Oil Minister Mansour Moazami said Teheran was overseeing the export of 1.2 million barrels of oil per day.

356657_Iran-oilMoazami said the exports exceeded government forecasts by 20 percent.

“When the government took office, exports were around 700,000 barrels per day,” Moazimi said on April 18.

“Our oil exports are now 20 percent higher than in the budget numbers, and we believe that in the current Iranian year they will increase further.”

The increase in oil exports skyrocketed in wake of Iran’s nuclear agreement with the P5+1 countries in November 2013 and the subsequent relaxing of sanctions by the West.

Moazimi said Iran’s oil exports were augmented by 200,000 barrels per day of derivative gas products from crude.
