The ship, called Gaza’s Ark, sank after being bombed on April 29 off Gaza City.

Gaza's Ark was badly damaged and partially sunk in an April 29 attack.

Nobody is said to have been injured on the ship, prepared to sail to Europe with Gaza produce.

“The extent and nature of the damage are currently being investigated,” Gaza’s Ark project manager Mahfouz Kabariti said. “We will provide an update when available.”

This marked the latest attack on Western-sponsored ships that supply the Gaza Strip. Gaza’s Ark has been part of the Freedom Flotilla Coalition, which sought to break the Egyptian and Israeli siege on the Hamas regime. Several members of the project blamed Israel for the blast.

The Gaza Ark Project said a night guard aboard the ship received a telephone call that warned of an imminent attack. The guard fled and within minutes a large explosion partially sank the boat.

“Freedom Flotilla boats have been sabotaged before,” Ehab Lotayef, a
project member, said. “This attack comes as we were almost ready to sail.”
