SEOUL — Capitalist lifestyle is increasingly penetrating North Korea as its people struggle to survive through markets and private economic activities, according to recent clandestine video footage made inside the country.
The country’s strict restrictions on personal travel have been also easing as more people move from town to town to peddle foods, socks, vegetables, cigarettes and anything else they can obtain, the video revealed.
The recent video coverage by the Japan-based Asia Press was obtained by South Korea’s public broadcaster KBS.
Asia Press equipped five people with hidden cameras to record activities in six major North Korean cities.
