TEL AVIV — The United States, in wake of a cutoff during the war with Hamas, has renewed the supply of missiles to Israel.

Israeli sources said the administration of President Barack Obama approved the renewal of Hellfire missile shipments to the Jewish state.

The sources said an unspecified number of Hellfires, deployed on U.S.-origin helicopters, arrived for the Israel Air Force in September 2014.

“The U.S. has now supplied some of the Hellfire missiles that Israel requested in the course of the conflict with Hamas this summer, and more are on the way,” The Times of Israel website said.

The website said the Defense Department has been directed to renew Hellfire and other U.S. munitions to Israel. Times of Israel said the U.S. suspension of munitions in August did not harm the Israeli military.

In August, the State Department reported a review of U.S. military shipments to Israel amid its war with Hamas. At the time, the department said the inter-agency review included the White House and denied any formal
suspension.

Other Israeli sources said the White House lifted the suspension after the 50-day war with Israel in late August. They said details of renewed American supplies were discussed by Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon
and his U.S. counterpart, Chuck Hagel.

“Things have moved from the White House to the bureaucracy,” a source said.
