WASHINGTON — The United States has lifted sanctions from three
companies deemed to have helped Iran’s energy sector.

On April 12, the State Department said sanctions were lifted against
Pacific Management, Societe Anonyme Monegasque D’Administration Maritime Et
Aerienne, and Allvale Maritime Inc.

All three companies were accused of supplying a tanker to Iran’s state-owned Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines, a target of U.S. and international sanctions, in 2010.

“All three companies have been engaged in extensive consultations with
the State Department and have taken significant steps to ensure their
operations are in compliance with U.S. sanctions law and policy, and have
provided reliable assurances that they will not knowingly engage in such
sanctionable activity in the future,” State Department deputy spokesman
Patrick Ventrell said.

This is not the first time that the State Department has removed
companies from the Iranian sanctions list. In 2011, the department removed Israel’s Ofer Brother’s Group, also accused of participating in the 2010
contract for IRISL.
