LONDON — Turkey is said to have intercepted a North Korean shipment of gas masks to Syria.
A Japanese newspaper asserted that Turkey intercepted a vessel that contained North Korean gas masks destined for Syria. The vessel, registered in Libya, is said to have left North Korea and reached Turkey in April 2013.
“Both countries, amid strict monitoring, have shown that they maintained a close military exchange,” Sankei Shimbun, the newspaper, said.
In a report on Aug. 27, Sankei asserted that the Turkish Navy arrested the captain of the Libyan-registered vessel, named Al En Ti Sar and packed with weapons and gas masks.
