U.S. exercise Desert-Hawk-3 aims to raise ‘readiness of Saudi forces’

ABU DHABI — Saudi Arabia and the United States have launched a   military exercise.

size0-army.mil-102384-2011-03-18-090319The two countries have conducted Desert Hawk-3 exercise in northwestern Saudi Arabia.

Desert Hawk was deemed an army exercise meant to enhance combat skills and interoperability.

“The goal of these drills is to raise readiness of the Saudi forces in the region,” Saudi Maj. Gen. Saad Al Qarni, chief of the Army’s Northwest Command, said.

The exercise, with headquarters in Tabouk, began on April 5 in cooperation with U.S. Central Command, led by Maj. Gen. Dana Pittard.

Officials did not say how long the exercise would last.
