ANKARA — Turkey has enhanced its security barrier along the border with Syria.
Officials said the Interior Ministry was overseeing the construction of a four-meter barrier along Turkey’s 900-kilometer border with Syria.

The officials said the wall would block infiltration from Syria, which reached 600,000 over the nearly three-year Sunni revolt against President Bashar Assad.
“The wall will be built in stages and not encompass even most of the border,” an official said.
Officials said the project would last at least three years. They said the current security barrier, which reached 2.5 meters, was insufficient to stop infiltrators.
Turkey has been accused of becoming a haven and supplier of the Sunni revolt in Syria.
On Jan. 2, the Ankara government denied reports of the capture of a truck loaded with weapons for Syria in a mission sponsored by the Humanitarian Relief Foundation, linked to Prime Minister Recep Erdogan.
“The truck was loaded with aid for the Turkmen community in Syria,”
Turkish Interior Minister Efkan Ala said.
