The Syrian military said gunners shot down an Israeli UAV over the Quneitra province. The military identified the Israeli UAV as the Skylark-1, a tactical platform produced by Elbit Systems.

“Skylark-1, was taken down near Al Hadar village in Quneitra,” a military source told the official Syrian Arab News Agency.

The UAV was shot down on Dec. 21 during an unspecified mission. The Syrian news agency posted photos of the UAV, including Hebrew markings.

“The unmanned aircraft is made by the Israel’s Elbit electronics company,” the news agency said on Dec. 21. “It is 200 centimeters long, 312 centimeters width with a flight range of 20 kilometers.”

The Israeli military has denied the Syrian report. An Israeli military spokesman said no platform was reported missing.

But military sources acknowledged that Israel has intensified monitoring of the Syrian portion of the Golan Heights over the last month.

They cited reports of a growing presence of Islamic State of Iraq and Levant in the Syrian provinces of Dera and Quneitra.
