WASHINGTON — Sunni rebels, directed by Arab and Western states, have revised their strategy in northern Syria, a report said.
The Institute for the Study of War asserted that Sunni rebels in the northern provinces of Aleppo and Idlib have suspended most operations in major cities controlled by the regime of President Bashar Assad. Instead, the rebels were targeting Assad’s military, particularly the Air Force.
“Operations in the northern provinces of Idlib and Aleppo have moved away from trying to gain territory in major urban centers and instead have focused on degrading the regime’s air power by targeting air bases,” the report said.
