Fracking boosts Saudi projections for oil exports

ABU DHABI — Saudi Arabia has reported a slight increase in natural gas reserves.

AP97022601680-306x209The state-owned monopoly, Saudi Aramco, said reserves rose to 288 trillion cubic feet of gas in 2013.

In 2012, Aramco reported 285 trillion cubic feet of gas ahead of offshore exploration in the Red Sea.

In its annual review, Aramco also cited a project to acquire gas from shale.

The company said the shale project would enable additional crude oil for export.

In 2013, Aramco increased gas production to 11 billion cubic feet a day from 10.7 billion during the previous year.

The company cited additional exploration in the Empty Quarter as well as the discovery of the Shaur gas field in the Red Sea.
