ABU DHABI — Saudi Arabia has quietly increasing crude oil production.
Industry sources said Saudi Aramco increased its crude output in April 2014 to 9.66 million barrels per day.
The sources attributed the 100,000 barrel per day rise in April to customer demand, mostly that of China.
Saudi Arabia remains the biggest crude producer followed by Russia.
The sources said Riyad has diversified its sales amid a sharp decrease in purchases by the United States in 2013.
In March, Aramco’s output was 9.56 million barrels per day.
The sources said the Saudi increase was not substantial and did not affect the global market.
