Officials said the new African state could not export crude oil because of seizures by the northern regime in Khartoum.

They said oil from South Sudan was being confiscated to pay for what Khartoum claimed were unpaid transit fees.

“We’re not getting paid for this and the people of South Sudan are not benefiting,” an officials said.

Officials said the reduction in oil production from Juba would begin immediately, with a complete shutdown scheduled to be reached by Feb. 7.

South Sudan has been producing 375,000 barrels of oil per day.
