Revised ’10 Principles’ impact daily lives of N. Koreans more than nation’s constitution

SEOUL — North Korea has revised its key ruling ideology of the “10 Principles for Monolithic Leadership” for the first time in 39 years, officials and sources here said.

The changes were clearly made to legitimize the rule of Kim Jong-Un, and imply there are political challenges facing the youthful new leader.

The “10 Principles” have a more direct impact on everyday lives of its people than the constitution, according to specialists on North Korea.

These principles are used as a yardstick to measure the degree of one’s loyalty and faithfulness.

Those found to be violating the principles are sent to concentration camps.
