According to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the five stopped on Nov. 20 brought the total for the week to 13 Syrians stopped at the Laredo crossing.

The Department of Homeland Security reported that the five detained on Nov. 20 were a family of three men, a woman and a child who presented themselves at the Gateway to the Americas Bridge.

Customs and Border Protection (CPB) “checked their identities against numerous law enforcement and national security related databases. Records checks revealed no derogatory information about the individuals,” a CBP statement said.

CBP said it turned the five Syrians over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement “for further processing and placement in an ICE facility.”
