North Korea’s Kim predicting unification by force within 3 years

SEOUL — North Korea is upgrading its missile and artillery positions, and its young leader Kim Jong-Un has told subordinates he could occupy the South by force within three years, intelligence officials and sources here said.

The North has deployed upgraded version of 240mm-caliber multiple rocket launchers with a longer range of 70 kilometers at its front-line artillery units, replacing 107mm guns, according to Seoul’s National Intelligence Service.

The North’s military has developed the new version in order to increase its target range and has recently deployed them, the NIS said.

The upgraded artillery pieces are targeting the Seoul metropolitan city and its neighboring area that has a combined 20 million population, just 50 kilometers away from the heavily fortified border, the spy agency said in a report to parliament.
