New N. Korean official on National Defense Commission said to head missile program

SEOUL — Cho Chun-Ryong who recently joined in North Korea’s powerful National Defense Commission is believed to be in charge of the country’s missile development programs, South Korean government sources said.

Cho was named to the NDC at the first session of the newly-formed Supreme People’s Assembly on April 9.

The NDC is the country’ highest ruling body and has only nine members including Kim Jong-Un who rules the country in the capacity of the NDC’s First Chairman.

But the North’s media provided no profiles about Cho, unlike the other eight members.

No less noteworthy was that Ri Su-Yong, former North Korean ambassador to Switzerland, was named as to replace Pak Ui-Chun as the foreign minister at the SPA session.
