N. Korea seeks to end world’s apathy about its 24 high-priority economic zones

SEOUL — North Korea hopes to invite foreign specialists to rescue its lackluster special economic zones [see tables below] to which leader Kim Jong-Un has assigned a high priority, a source here said.

Foreign specialists would be given key posts in the North’s state-run management committees for the special economic zones, the source said, citing an official North Korean document.

“Foreigners can hold even the top post in the country’s special economic zones project,” he said.

“Specialists from China or Russia are likely to lead the projects in the North,” the source said. “The measure is aimed at attracting foreign investment. This is what the North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un wants most,” he said.
