Moscow loses its cool as West turns up the heat with new sanctions

The new round of economic sanctions imposed by the United States, with much stronger European endorsement, has been met with defiance and fury in Russia.

President Vladimir Putin said that he will “deal with the sanctions without fuss.”

He characterized the West’s association of Russia with the shooting down of the Malaysia Airlines’ Flight MH17″ as a plot to “achieve narrow selfish political objectives.”

Putin warned Washington that the new round of sanctions will “drive the U.S.-Russian relations into a dead end” and then issued a threat. The sanctions, he said, in addition to being a disaster for the U.S. economy will “deal a major blow to the many EU countries’ economies” as well.

Russia’s diplomats have also lost their cool . . .
