LONDON — A Western energy major has been increasing Libya’s crude
oil production.
Italy’s Eni reported that it was progressing toward reaching crude oil and natural gas output levels of those before the revolt against Libyan Col. Moammar Gadhafi in early 2011.
Eni said its production in Libya has reached 240,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day.
The company’s pre-revolt level was 280,000 barrels per day.
Executives said it renewed oil production at Wafa and Bu Attifel fields in September 2011.
They also reported the resumption of operations of the
Greenstream pipeline in October.
Eni said it expected to reached its pre-revolt production level by
August. The company said it was also resuming production of gas at the Bahr Essalam field.
