The Libyan Navy later fired on the vessel and, with assistance from Italian ships, was able to secure the North Korean tanker.

Prior to the Navy’s actions, Libya’s parliament voted to fire Prime Minister Ali Zeidan when it appeared the tanker had escaped.

Zeidan will be replaced on an interim basis by Defense Minister Abdallah al-Thinni, parliament spokesman Omar Hmeidan told reporters.

The Libyan General National Congress said the Navy had intercepted the North
Korean-flagged Morning Glory on March 10.

Morning Glory was said to have been stopped by the Navy as it left port with 234,000 barrels of crude provided by rebel militias.
