One of Libya’s two governments said it would block payment of oil revenues through bank accounts in Tripoli. The recognized government led by Prime Minister Abdullah Al Thini said it would control oil revenues through the state-owned National Oil Corp.

“Central accounts existing in Tripoli will be closed,” Al Thini said.

In an interview on Dec. 10 with the Saudi-owned Al Arabiya satellite channel, Al Thini said control over the billions of dollars in oil revenues would take several weeks.

He said his government would establish an alternative system that would deny the rival government led by the Qatar-supported Libyan Dawn access to the Central Bank.
