Sources told the Daily NK website that Kim ordered that the manager of the Taedonggang terrapin farm be executed following the leader’s tour of the facility in May in which he was angered by the number of terrapin deaths and the farm’s failure to breed freshwater lobsters.

According to North Korea’s official state website KCNA, Kim was not happy with the farm’s inability to breed the lobsters which had been given to the farm in October to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Workers’ Party.

Kim is said to have ordered the execution of at least 15 state officials in the past year.

In May of this year, defense minister Hyon Yong-Chol was executed after falling asleep at an event where Kim was the guest of honor.

Another explanation for Hyon’s killing may have been his opposition to a budget decision that impacted the military, according to a report by Geostrategy-Direct.
