CAIRO — Sudan has been targeting the energy sector of the new
southern state.

South Sudan said the Khartoum regime has been bombing crude oil wells.
Officials said the Sudanese Army was also deploying thousands of troops
along the disputed border with the new southern state amid border and energy
conflicts.

“At least one well has been damaged and oil was leaking,” a South
Sudanese official said.

The Khartoum air strike took place on Feb. 29 when two Sudanese Air
Force dropped six bombs in Pariang. South Sudanese military spokesman Col.
Philip Aguer said Khartoum has deploying a large number of troops near
Pariang along the southern border.
