JERUSALEM — Israel has reported a sharp increase in Palestinian
attacks.

The Israel Security Agency has reported a more than 33 percent increase
in attacks in September 2013. The agency said most of the increase stemmed
from the West Bank.

“The main increase is noted in Judea and Samaria [West Bank] with 104 attacks, as opposed to 68 in August,” ISA said.

“Two prominent attacks occurred this month — one in Samaria and another in Judea, where two IDF soldiers were killed.”

In a report on Oct. 8, ISA reported 133 attacks in September, up from 99 in August.

Attacks from Jerusalem and the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip remained at roughly the same level over the last two months.

The Palestinian attacks included the killing of two Israeli soldiers in September. The report cited the killing of an Israeli soldier, lured from his home in Tel Aviv to the West Bank city of Kalkilya. Another soldier was shot dead in Hebron.

ISA also reported rocket attacks from the Gaza Strip. In all, eight
rockets were fired by Palestinian gunners from the Gaza Strip in September,
compared to five during the previous month.
