Strip.

The officials said at least 25 police officers were killed in the rocket-propelled grenade attack on Aug. 19.

“The attack took place on the road from El Arish to Rafah,” Egypt’s official Middle East News Agency said.

The morning attack took place as two police buses were driving through a village outside the border city of Rafah. Officials said the assailants escaped after the strike.

This marked the bloodiest attack on Egyptian security forces during the
two-year in insurgency in Sinai. In August 2012, 16 Egyptian Army soldiers
were killed in an Islamist attack near the Israeli border.

Egypt has blamed Hamas for involvement in the attacks around Rafah.
Officials said Hamas and Al Qaida-aligned fighters from the Gaza Strip were
recruited in a drive to expel the Cairo regime from eastern and central
Sinai.
