A pair of suspected Islamic State of Iraq and Levant (ISIL) jihadists hid some 150 European passports in mini-pizza ovens in an attempt to smuggle them into Turkey, a report said.

One Syrian and one Turkish suspect were detained after flying in from a European country and are being questioned by police at anti-terrorism headquarters in Istanbul, AFP reports.

A Turkish government official told AFP the passports are fake, but the Dogan news agency reported that they were originals.

A Turkish journalist posted a photo on Twitter which he says shows the passports police found on the suspects, including German, French, and UK passport covers.

The AFP report said police also seized hidden cameras as well as several memory and SIM cards.

ISIL is believed to have gotten its hands on blank passports and a passport printing machine when its jihadists seized the Syrian city of Deir Ezzor, ABC News reported earlier this month.

“The intelligence community is concerned that they [ISIL] have the ability, the capability to manufacture fraudulent passports,” FBI Director James Comey said in testimony before Congress this month.
