“Cut off their heads,” ISIL spokesman Abu Mohammed Al Adani said. “Do not let them feel secure.”

[On Sept. 23, the United States and several Arab countries launched the first air strikes on ISIL in Syria. U.S. officials said Bahrain, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates participated in the attacks, which included ISIL’s headquarters in the northern Syrian city of Raqqa.]

The statement on Sept. 22 marked a rare call by ISIL to its supporters in Egypt. Officials said ISIL has been building a presence in both Sinai as well as the African mainland through such proxies as Ansar Al Sharia and Ansar Beit Maqdis.

Al Adani also called on Muslims to join the revolt in Sinai. The spokesman said they should target army and police bases throughout the peninsula.

“Rig the roads with explosives for them,” Al Adani said. “Attack their bases. Raid their homes.”

On Sept. 22, an Islamic militia claimed responsibility for a bombing in downtown Cairo near the Foreign Ministry. The explosion, claimed by Ajnad Misr, was said to have killed two senior police officers. Ajnad has been linked to Ansar Beit Maqdis.

“The attacks will continue until the ruling tyrants fall and Islamic law is established,” Ajnad said.
