Iran’s revenue for energy exports fell by nearly $30 billion in 2012.

The U.S. Energy Information Administration said Iranian crude and lease condensate exports dropped to their lowest level since 1986. The agency cited Western sanctions on Iran’s energy sector.

“Iran’s liquid fuels production averaged 3.4 million bbl/d [barrels per day] in March and April 2013, of which 2.8 million bbl/d was crude oil,
remaining flat compared with the January and February 2013 production level,” EIA said on April 25.

“Nonetheless, Iran’s liquid fuels production
remains well below its year-ago level of 3.8 million bbl/d and the
three-year average production total of 4.0 million bbl/d.”

EIA said Iran’s exports in 2012 dropped to 1.5 million barrels per day,
with revenue of $69 billion. In 2011, Teheran’s energy exports were reported
to have reached $95 billion.
