The missiles started a huge fire at storage tanks at the Aden refinery in the Buraiqah area. The fighting had forced the refinery to shut down operations in April. It had produced 150,000 barrels of crude per day before closing.

As fighting erupted in northern Aden on June 27, sources said eight civilians were killed, including a woman and her three children, in shelling on residential areas by the Houthis.

According to Al Arabiya News Channel, at least five Iranian-backed Houthis were reported killed on June 27 during battles with the Popular Resistance Front loyal to President Abbed Rabbo Mansour Hadi in the central province of al-Bayda.

A Houthi leader was killed in fighting between the two factions in the western governorate of Raima, Al Arabiya reported.
