As the Egyptian Air Force jets were pounding ISIS targets in Libya to avenge the 21 beheaded Egyptian Christians, Cairo was signing a major deal with France to purchase 24 Dassault Rafale fighters.
It was one of the largest arms sales packages of the year, reportedly worth 5 billion Euros.
French President F. Hollande announced the Rafale deal in Paris on Feb. 16. Also included is the sale of a French made European multipurpose frigate [FREMM] and an unspecified number of missiles.
This is a crucial step for France’s Dassault Rafale program because it has become legendarily difficult to sell to other countries.
