Egyptian sources said the UAE flew 15 armored vehicles to Cairo in late May. They said the vehicles were delivered to the Egyptian Interior Ministry.

“The vehicles were transported by military aircraft and handed over to the Egyptian Interior Ministry,” Egypt’s official Middle East News Agency said.

Presidential elections began on May 26, with the clear frontrunner identified as former Defense Minister Abdul Fatah Al Sisi.

Officials said Egypt has deployed more than 500,000 troops to protect voters and
candidates.

This marked the second shipment of UAE armored vehicles to Egypt.

Neither Egypt nor the United Arab Emirates provided details of the shipments.
