Officials said the Customs Authority found and confiscated a shipment of
thousands of army uniforms and material. They said customs officers found some 10,000 uniforms believed headed for neighboring Libya.

“The shipment was meant to be transported by land to Libya, but it is
not clear who was to receive this,” an official said.

Officials said this marked the latest of several military shipments
intercepted from Egypt to Libya. They said the uniforms, seized at Cairo
International Airport on March 23, was ordered by an Egyptian businessman.

In the northern Egyptian port city of Alexandria, customs officers
seized 25 tons of camouflage material used by army units. Officials said the camouflage was shipped from China and traced to an unidentified Chinese manufacturer in Egypt.

Officials said Egypt has become a supplier of military goods to Libya.
They said authorities wanted to limit exports to the Libyan government and
military rather than the powerful militias.
