They said ISIL was focusing its attacks on the rival Al Qaida-aligned Nusra Front for the Defense of Levant.

“Clashes have continued since this morning between ISIL and Islamic battalions around the city of Bokamal and the town of Kabajeb,” Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

In a statement on April 10, Syrian Observatory reported at least 51 dead around Dir Al Zour in northern Syria. The London-based opposition group said ISIL was executing prisoners and burying them in mass graves.

The ISIL attacks came amid air strikes by the Syrian military. The opposition has accused ISIL of working with Syrian intelligence.

ISIL and Nusra have been fighting each other since at least January
2014. ISIL recovered from an attack by Nusra and Saudi-financed rebel
militias and incurred heavy casualties in the provinces of Aleppo and Dir Al
Zour.
